Kayak Touring Safety

This two hour pool-based skills course covers three different methods of self rescue and assisted rescue for sea kayakers, including deep water boat re-entries using slings and paddle floats, the use of tow systems and T-rescues.  We practice bracing techniques and discuss how the various features of sea kayaks affect ease of rescue. Very small instructor ratios ensure that all participants get plenty of practice in a safe and warm environment so that you are equipped with the skills you need in an emergency situation.

Notes
  • The course takes place on Friday evenings at the SAIT Aquatics center.
